This poem was written for my beloved Te Dog. He was the love of my life and God blessed me with him for 11 1/2 years. This poem communicates, in a small way, how I felt about this big wonderful Coonhound.

Friend

Majestic, like a great redwood tree,
You sit there. The children you will defend
Without question until the tail end.
The unrelenting devotion, always there like the sea,
Goes far beyond the breeding and the pedigree.
This thing called love, so hard to comprehend,
Is the thing you stand for most, my friend --
Never to be deserted between you and me.

No one can see the redwood tree;
The only thing anyone can see is woebegone.
Time's not taken noticing the jubilee
In your spirit that sets you free.
There you are with every dawn
Always without fail, to depend upon.©
