Established April 22, 1992
Revised 11-98
Revised 12-2002
Revised 11-11-2005

Eligibility:

  • The owner must be a member of The American Black and Tan Coonhound Club at the time of induction.
  • The Black and Tan Coonhound must be AKC registered, or hold an AKC ILP number.
  • The only titles eligible for consideration are those awarded by The American Kennel Club, or by The American Black and Tan Coonhound Club.  This governs all awards or wins either by the individual Black and Tan Coonhound him/her self, or his/her get or  produce.

The Award:
  • As of December 2005 the American Black and Tan Coonhound Club will have a Conformation Hall of Fame, a Performance Hall of Fame and a Versatility Hall of Fame.
  • This is a lifetime achievement award.  During the course of the animals life, he/she will accumulate points toward the total points needed to be inducted into the Conformation Dog Hall of Fame, the Performance Dog Hall of Fame, or the Versatility Dog Hall of Fame.  It will be the responsibility of the owner to keep track of their dog's achievements and the number of points they have accumulated.  When the necessary points are attained, it will be the responsibility of the owner to submit copies of the documents that show the needed points have been earned.  These documents along with an awards form will then be submitted to the Awards Chairman for verification, and if correct, the induction will take place at the forthcoming Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet.

  • Conformation Hall - Grandfathering Clause: For those dogs who have passed away prior to April 22, 1992, whose conformation accomplishments for their time are felt by someone to be of importance to the breed, their “resume” should be sent to the Secretary to be distributed to the Board with as much documentation as possible for consideration.
  • Performance Hall – Grandfathering Clause: For those dogs who have passed away prior to June 1, 2002, whose performance accomplishments for their time are felt by someone to be of importance to the breed, their “resume” should be sent to the Secretary to be distributed to the Board with as much documentation as possible for consideration

  • As it is impossible to judge the Black and Tans of yesterday on today's standards, it was felt by the Hall of Fame committee, and many club members who were polled, that submitting a resume on each individual Black and Tan would be the most efficient way to honor those who opened the door for today's Black and Tans.
